Here's An Idea

Is it just me or does it seem that nowadays everyone and their dog seems to claim that they have the answers to the questions regarding our existence here on earth – our purpose as it were. Spiritual enlightenment, fulfillment of the soul and other age old questions pertaining to our journey in this thing we call life. Questions that I image have been asked since the dawn of civilization, questions pondered by scholars and philosophers alike, in every walk of life imaginable. This quest to find the true answers of why we are here, why is there suffering and why is there such a discrepancy amongst the peoples of the world as far as quality of life, monetary and property acquisitions and basic human freedoms.

It seems that everywhere you look someone is telling us that we are responsible for our own happiness, our successes and are ability to prosper in this world and I suppose on some level some of their ideas make sense. But on a larger scale it seems to me that it has become yet another money making industry – selling the keys to happiness and all for three easy payments of just $49.95 plus shipping and handling.

Spirituality…..the ever prosperous commodity.

It seems to me that if in fact any one individual or group of people for that matter actually possessed the key to this spiritual utopia that they would have us believe is possible if not for us being our own obstacle then would they not have a spiritual almost karmic responsibility to share that with the rest of the world – free of charge of course thus resulting in a much a better planet for everyone, not just those who can afford it.

Now I am not staying that in principle some of these thoughts and ideas retain some validity but they also seem to me to grossly understate many of the reasons why there isn’t a spiritual utopia inside all of us. First and foremost the ideas pertain largely to the populace of the Western worlds, those of us that are fortunate enough to have food, shelter, clean running water and relative safety. Not for those of us whose daily lives encounter war, poverty, genocide, famine, child slavery and other crimes upon humanity. These ideas cannot translate to those of us that exist on less then $2.00 a day which is in fact two thirds of the worlds’ population.

Don’t get me wrong , I do believe there are some basic universal principles that govern over life, I believe negativity breeds more negativity, I believe that violence begets violence and power in and of itself is a toxic and venomous condition that drives people to commit heinous and unthinkable acts.

Does it not seem pretty obvious that if we pollute our waters, kill the trees, the plants and animals that maintain the planets ecosystems, and dig into the belly of the earth to extract resources that not only further pollute the air and water that we require just to sustain life that in fact we are screwing ourselves over not just spiritually but physically and emotionally leaving no one exempt.

The alleged keys to spirituality are not to be found in the pages of a book but within each and every inhabitant of earth, through knowledge of thy self, personal introspection, reverence for the natural world and for the minds, bodies and souls of all living things. I do not believe that in this corrupted materialistic world that we live there are any easy answers or remedies to these age old questions and dilemmas, no one band aid for all woes of mankind. But by freeing are minds from the prejudices, stereotypes and dogmatic myths that have been pumped into about ninety percent of the worlds population via organized religion and other mind controlling nonsense and start using that highly complex organ that sits cradle comfortably inside the hard outer casing called the skull, we might just start seeing a difference. The human brain is a conception of pure genius, and remarkably enough the more you use your brain the better it works – so in honor of the human brain let us declare June 27, 2009 as Brain Day. A day where instead of being told, ordered, commanded or being the average sheep to the slaughter, lets’ turn on our brains full blast (even if you think yours doesn’t work too good) and people – lets’ see what happens!

Have a Happy Brain Day!

War...What the hell?

WELCOME TO RANTS WORLD

Topic: War....what the hell?

I cannot actually believe that as I watch the news, read the newspapers or surf the net that this "War" that wages on in the Middle East is still somehow being referred to as a noble and just cause. I mean what planet are people on , apparently not the same one as myself. And in actuality not just that war but all Wars - how does anyone win a war. Human lives being destroyed, peoples homes and families ripped apart all in the name of what - some idiots politcal ambitions. I ask myself what exactly are the people who volunteer to fight these wars reallly thinking, the reality of it is - is that most people have very limited knowledge of not only their own homeland but absolutley none of foreign lands, never mind customs , beliefs and the people themselves. And this limited knowledge I suppose has led to an ignorance that manifests itself into a self hatred - a self hatred that instead of being resolved internally has become so overwhelming to that individual that they search for an outlet - and whats better then to become a government sanctioned killing machine to let off some steam. There is no honour or justice in killing or maiming innocent men, women and children. And I say inncocent because at what point in society has a soldier in a military capacity been afford the right to be judge, jury and executioner. Never mind the fact that they simply haven't the undestanding of world politics, justice or inequality to deem any punishment , hence the fact they are willing to lay to down their lives to serve the interests of a few corrupt, misleading and generally detestable persons, whos' agendas are for the most part pretty obvious and completely reprehensible. Its time for people to stop looking to be told what to do, what to think and whats right, its time to figure that out for ourselfs, unless of course you feel that you are incapable of such freedoms in which cases I sure you can surrender yourself to some institution that is government run that thrives on mind control and encourages complete submission - oh thats right that would be the Army.
