Is it just me or does it seem that nowadays everyone and their dog seems to claim that they have the answers to the questions regarding our existence here on earth – our purpose as it were. Spiritual enlightenment, fulfillment of the soul and other age old questions pertaining to our journey in this thing we call life. Questions that I image have been asked since the dawn of civilization, questions pondered by scholars and philosophers alike, in every walk of life imaginable. This quest to find the true answers of why we are here, why is there suffering and why is there such a discrepancy amongst the peoples of the world as far as quality of life, monetary and property acquisitions and basic human freedoms.
It seems that everywhere you look someone is telling us that we are responsible for our own happiness, our successes and are ability to prosper in this world and I suppose on some level some of their ideas make sense. But on a larger scale it seems to me that it has become yet another money making industry – selling the keys to happiness and all for three easy payments of just $49.95 plus shipping and handling.
Spirituality…..the ever prosperous commodity.
It seems to me that if in fact any one individual or group of people for that matter actually possessed the key to this spiritual utopia that they would have us believe is possible if not for us being our own obstacle then would they not have a spiritual almost karmic responsibility to share that with the rest of the world – free of charge of course thus resulting in a much a better planet for everyone, not just those who can afford it.
Now I am not staying that in principle some of these thoughts and ideas retain some validity but they also seem to me to grossly understate many of the reasons why there isn’t a spiritual utopia inside all of us. First and foremost the ideas pertain largely to the populace of the Western worlds, those of us that are fortunate enough to have food, shelter, clean running water and relative safety. Not for those of us whose daily lives encounter war, poverty, genocide, famine, child slavery and other crimes upon humanity. These ideas cannot translate to those of us that exist on less then $2.00 a day which is in fact two thirds of the worlds’ population.
Don’t get me wrong , I do believe there are some basic universal principles that govern over life, I believe negativity breeds more negativity, I believe that violence begets violence and power in and of itself is a toxic and venomous condition that drives people to commit heinous and unthinkable acts.
Does it not seem pretty obvious that if we pollute our waters, kill the trees, the plants and animals that maintain the planets ecosystems, and dig into the belly of the earth to extract resources that not only further pollute the air and water that we require just to sustain life that in fact we are screwing ourselves over not just spiritually but physically and emotionally leaving no one exempt.
The alleged keys to spirituality are not to be found in the pages of a book but within each and every inhabitant of earth, through knowledge of thy self, personal introspection, reverence for the natural world and for the minds, bodies and souls of all living things. I do not believe that in this corrupted materialistic world that we live there are any easy answers or remedies to these age old questions and dilemmas, no one band aid for all woes of mankind. But by freeing are minds from the prejudices, stereotypes and dogmatic myths that have been pumped into about ninety percent of the worlds population via organized religion and other mind controlling nonsense and start using that highly complex organ that sits cradle comfortably inside the hard outer casing called the skull, we might just start seeing a difference. The human brain is a conception of pure genius, and remarkably enough the more you use your brain the better it works – so in honor of the human brain let us declare June 27, 2009 as Brain Day. A day where instead of being told, ordered, commanded or being the average sheep to the slaughter, lets’ turn on our brains full blast (even if you think yours doesn’t work too good) and people – lets’ see what happens!
Have a Happy Brain Day!

Rant's World, (Can you Make The Comment Box A Wider Please)
ReplyDeleteIs there a contradiction within your argument: first you say "everyone and their dog seems to claim that they have the answers to the questions regarding our existence here on earth – our purpose as it were."
And then you say:
"The alleged keys to spirituality are not to be found in the pages of a book but within each and every inhabitant of earth, through knowledge of thy self, personal introspection, reverence for the natural world and for the minds, bodies and souls of all living thing"
So everyone awakening and proclaiming to know Gift of Divinity would not be all that different that what you yourself perceive to be true.
What you seem to challenge, is the selling of knowledge that leads to spiritual development and mastery.
My question to you: Is everyone's key opening the same door? Do some people have keys to every door, or just one door? And where does each person's door lead?
Like the Canadian comedy-drama, Being Erica, her therapist sends her walking through different doors of her life, to relive them and experience them as she wished they could have been. The result being that some things that she once held as regret, she began to see differently, or to understand it from a perspective of where she was in her life now.
If I hear you, say that spiritual knowledge should be free, because it's spiritual and should not be a commodity. I ask you if ever there was a time, when knowledge of any sort was 'free'? Hasn't knowledge been paid for in blood?
Knowledge of any sort has not historically been made available to the masses. So you are angry that one branch of it, (spiritual) isn't excluded from the tree?
Unless it is your hidden argument, that spirituality is a non factor in the emancipation of the mind, for the human being. Are you saying all spiritual knowledge is false?
Or that its inherent value, is so valuable it is beyond the real reach of the masses, and should be made available to them, without a sacrifice of fair exchange?
Kinda seems like you would make a poor class from those that spread, teach, or are adept in the arts of spirit. And yet, in making it definable and tangible to those who employ help, we allow it's continued growth in the market place, thereby creating more avenues for it's distribution and access, by the same masses you want to reach for free.
Should psychologists be paid for their time? They study the soul too, and is considered a science, based heavily, if not entierly on theory.
Or what about Martial Arts instructors, should they teach classes, and give lessons to those who are interested for free, and maybe also on demand? The Martial Arts is the physical component to developing spiritually while in physical form, so is dance.
You suggest that freeing one's mind from prejudice, stereotypes and dogmatic maths, via organized religions and other mind control methods.
Your About Section, makes it clear you want to reach others, but yet stand out from 'mainstream media'. You use the word 'voice' meaning you want to be heard. So how do you reach an audience, without paying for it?
When you commit time to writing a blog, for a following, you set aside time, to keep that creative collateral coming out on time. Without which, you lose the interest of your audience. Time is money, interest generates money, and you don't want to waste any of it.
If your commitment isn't that deep, you won't invest money to reach an audience, because you won't want to solve the problem of how to get a return on your investment into the message your voice has to give. Inherently, one won't see value in your own time, the commitment will be superficial because there's nothing to lose, and the Tree falling in the forest will have no one around to hear it.
